The Express and Star journalist Joe Edwards has recently aired some criticism of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Mexican striker Raul Jimenez.

So far this season, the 29-year-old forward has been in imperious form as he has bagged 15 goals and six assists in 34 Premier League appearances (per WhoScored).

Those goals and assists have earned the Mexican an impressive 7.28/10 average rating which has made him the second-best performer for Wolves in the league.

However, in the latest episode of the E&S Wolves Podcast, Edwards stated that he has been disappointed in Jimenez’s performances recently.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

He said: ” I think Raul Jimenez is kind of trying to do a bit too much.

“He’s obviously getting frustrated because he’s not getting a lot of the ball and he’s doing that thing where you kind of drop deep and then look wide – and then he’s not between the posts where he’s most effective.”

Later in the podcast, the journalist aired that Leonardo Campana could be the answer, he said: “Raul barely had a kick last night [against Sheffield United] and if it’s the last five minutes, why not put him on just to help Raul or just kind of pump balls into the box?”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, it is clear that he believes that Jimenez has not been at his best in recent games for the Old Gold.

With the forward having picked up match ratings of 6.65/10, 6.75/10 and 6.58/10 in his last three outings, it is clear that the forward has been delivering under-par performances.
