Wolves are reportedly one of the sides interested in signing Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie in the summer transfer window but they could face competition from Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle United.

According to CBS Sports (via Talking Wolves), the Old Gold are one of a number of sides around Europe considering a move for the USA international, who is expected to leave the Bundesliga side in the upcoming transfer window. The report from CBS suggests that the 21-year-old is one of several key players expected to depart, due to the financial difficulties the Gelsenkirchen side are currently facing.

McKennie enjoyed a decent season in the Bundesliga with Schalke, averaging a solid 6.78 rating for his performances in the German top-flight, contributing three goals and no assists in 28 appearances (per WhoScored). This rating would be enough to see him get rated as Wolves’ ninth-best rated player in the Premier League this season, suggesting that he could be a decent addition in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
