The Express and Star journalist Joe Edwards has discussed what Wolverhampton Wanderers will do in the summer transfer window.

With Premier League clubs set for a collective loss of £500m due to the current viral outbreak (via The Guardian), how that will effect the transfer window is not yet fully known.

However, after Chelsea agreed a deal of around £48m with RB Leipzig for the transfer of Timo Werner in recent weeks (via TalkSPORT), clubs are clearly still willing to spend big.

So, in the latest episode of the E&S Wolves Podcast, Joe Edwards discussed what the Old Gold are likely to do in the upcoming transfer window.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

He said: “Clubs are still spending money and I don’t think Wolves will be any different, really.

“The word was that they wouldn’t spend astronomical amounts on one player, but if that’s what the market dictates, and Wolves want to strengthen for a Champions League campaign if they get that, then I think you’ve got to take whatever measures are necessary.

“If that means spending £40-50m on a player, setting another new transfer record, then that’s what’s got to be done.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, judging from what Edwards had to say, it seems that there is still a possibility that the Old Gold may spend big on getting new players in the upcoming transfer window.

Do you think that Wolves will spend big in the upcoming summer transfer window?

No, I find it unlikely

Yes, I think they could

Yes, I think they could

If Wolves spend anywhere near the £106.02m that they spent during the 2019/20 season over the 2020/21 term, then it certainly seems likely that you could consider that as spending big.
