According to recent reports, Wolves are one of the clubs – which include Watford, Lazio and AC Milan – who are interested in a summer move for Braga defender Bruno Viana.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola (via Sport Witness) has claimed that the 25-year-old is in line to be at the centre of a tug of war this summer, as a number of clubs across the continent have been monitoring the defender.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

Viana joined Braga from Olympiacos on a permanent deal back in 2018 for £2.7 million and has made 126 appearances for the Portuguese outfit, scoring six goals and providing four assists since first joining on loan three years ago.

So far this season, the defender has featured 27 times for the club in Liga NOS, averaging 0.9 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 2.2 clearances per game, helping his side to reach fourth place in the Portuguese top flight.

A Bola also reports that the defender has a release clause of €25 million (£22.4 million), but it would appear unlikely that any interested party will pay that amount this summer, due to the impact the viral pandemic has had on the finances of football clubs.

However, the report goes on to claim that Braga have previously told suitors that the 25-year-old will still cost around €20 million (£17.9 million).

TIF Thoughts…

Although the defender is indeed a first-team regular in a top-four Portuguese side, his average WhoScored match rating so far this season of 6.53/10 in the league, as well as 6.41 in the Europa League, is not exactly a sign of mind-blowing form.

And when comparing Braga’s stated asking price of €20 million (£17.9 million) to the player’s Transfermarkt value of £4.32 million, we would suggest that Wolves may be able to find better value elsewhere.
