Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly ‘monitoring’ the situation of AC Milan’s Portuguese striker Rafael Leão.

According to Tuttosport, as cited by Sport Witness, following the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer, the 21-year-old forward lost his regular starting spot.

Supposedly, the striker did not train with the ‘right attitude’ following the signing of the veteran forward and that is why he lost his place in the side.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

However, despite Wolves being ‘ready to go’ and sign the player, Tuttosport revealed that ‘something changed’ in the forward’s mentality and he now has the ‘right attitude’.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side was not the only potential suitor for the Portuguese forward, though, as Juventus and Atletico Madrid were also waiting in the wings, though the report from Sport Witness claims that the Old Gold’s links to super-agent Jorge Mendes could help them to acquire the services of the attacker.

Leão currently has four years left on his contract with AC Milan and has a market value of £18m, according to Transfermarkt.

TIF Thoughts…

With the 21-year-old having been in Milan’s starting eleven in only 31% of his club’s matches in Serie A so far this season, perhaps his frustration is understandable.

However, his performances when he has featured for the Rossoneri in the league have been somewhat underwhelming.

Over 26 Serie A appearances, Leão has earned an uninspiring 6.64/10 average rating, making him only the 13th-best performer for AC Milan in the league (per WhoScored).

Would you be happy if Wolves signed Rafael Leão from AC Milan?

Furthermore, the Portuguese forward has been far from prolific as he has bagged only five goals and zero assists over those 26 appearances (per WhoScored).

However, Wolves are desperate for striking reinforcements as the Old Gold currently only have one out-and-out striker that has made an appearance for the club this season.

So, should the situation again arise in which the 21-year-old could depart the San Siro, then it may make sense if Wolves make a move for Leão.
