Speaking on the latest episode of The Transfer Window Podcast, Ian McGarry made a big transfer claim on Declan Rice, with the midfielder supposedly keen on a move to Chelsea.

To start this quiz on Mark Noble with a tough one, in what year did the midfielder make his league debut for the Hammers?

McGarry spoke about many other things, but he spent a little bit of time on Rice, and he revealed that the West Ham United man is keen on a move to Chelsea when the season is over.

Here is what he had to say about Rice’s situation, but before that, he talked about Jack Grealish wanting to leave Aston Villa if Dean Smith’s side is relegated.

“The same [Not wanting to play in the Championship] applies to West Ham’s Declan Rice.

“Who is a player much in demand, an England international already, although obviously, he did play for the Republic of Ireland a few times as well beforehand, and, as we reported on The Transfer Window Podcast a couple of weeks ago, someone who Frank Lampard very much admires and would like to play in central defence.

“Even though he’s been playing as a holding midfielder recently for the Hammers.

“We understand Rice is keen to move to Stamford Bridge and reunite with the club who brought him through their academy.”

It seems as if McGarry thinks that the 21-year-old would like to move to Stamford Bridge, and Lampard sees him as a centre-back.

TIF Thoughts…

Rice played against Chelsea on Wednesday night and earned a 6.76 rating from WhoScored for his performance against Lampard’s side as the Hammers pulled off a huge win.

The 21-year-old has been West Ham’s fifth-best player in the Premier League this season and considering he averages 3.1 tackles per game and two interceptions per game, you can see why Lampard would want him.

Chelsea have conceded 44 league goals this season and have also lost ten matches this year in the league – so it is clear to see where they need improvement.

Could Rice be that man to improve their defence? It will be interesting to see if the Blues think he is and make a move for him.
