Hammers insider @ExWHUemployee has shed some light on the proposed transfer of West Ham United’s Albian Ajeti to Celtic.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Swiss forward was set to move to Parkhead as David Moyes began his summer clearout at the London Stadium (per The Guardian).

However, it was then reported that the deal had stalled and the loan move which had an option to become permanent was on the ropes.

So, in the latest episode of The West Ham Way podcast, @ExWHUemployee offered an update on the striker’s supposed switch to the Hoops.

To kick-off this quiz on David Moyes on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at the London Stadium against?

He said: “So, they’ve already tried to sell Ajeti. Ajeti went to Scotland, had talks with Celtic about a loan move there, there was going to be a loan move with a very short clause to then be made permanent.

“So, he was going to go to Celtic, but the player has changed his mind.

“I think financially, he thinks he can get a better package elsewhere, also, West Brom are looking around and you’ve got the dilemma: do you play for Celtic? Clearly the best team in Scotland, where you will score a lot of goals and play in the Champions League, but it’s a bit of a one-if-two-horse race there and no one takes that league particularly seriously.

“The deal to Celtic was pretty much done, but he retracted it and I know that West Ham are annoyed with that because they wanted to get him off the wage bill and get that process moving. So, it’s on his side and not ours.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know pundit had to say, seemingly the Irons are frustrated that the £4.32m-rated forward has changed his mind over the move to Celtic Park.

Are the club right to be trying to get rid of Albian Ajeti?

No, he needs a chance

After a 5.97/10 average rating over nine substitute appearances in the Premier League made the 23-year-old forward the worst-performing player for the Irons this season (per WhoScored), perhaps it is no surprise that the club is keen to be rid of Ajeti.
