Hammers insider @ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United manager David Moyes is targeting defenders this summer.
According to a recent report from the Evening Standard, the Irons are eyeing potential swoops for two Championship defenders in Ryan Manning and Antonee Robinson.
Furthermore, @ExWHUemployee himself has also previously stated that the Hammers are eyeing a loan move for Diogo Dalot from Manchester United (via Hammers News).
So, in the latest episode of The West Ham Way podcast, the in-the-know pundit further discussed these rumours and the fact that Moyes is targeting defenders.
He said: “As we [have] said before, Moyes wants to sign defenders; right-backs, left-backs, centre-backs.
“I’ve listed many of these on the show, some that have been covered in the press recently; Robinson’s still being talked about, Manning’s being talked about, they’re all true.
“Dalot of Manchester United, that one’s got some legs.
“Moyes is looking at, apparently, [Jonjoe] Kenny of Everton, not sure if that one’s true or not, that’s what someone else has said but [Moyes] definitely wants to sign defenders.”
TIF Thoughts…
As can be seen in what the in-the-know pundit had to say, there is some truth in some of the transfer links which have recently been reported in the press.
Of the four defenders, which would you like to sign the most?
Dalot
Kenny
Manning
Robinson
Of the two Championship left-backs, it would seem that Manning would be the better option as he has picked up a marginally better average rating this season (7.11/10), than what Robinson has done (7.09/10) according to WhoScored.
As for the right-backs, both seem somewhat uninspiring as Kenny picked up a 6.51/10 average rating in the Bundesliga and Dalot delivered a 6.18/10 in the Premier League.
So, perhaps Moyes should look elsewhere for a right-back.
