Hammers insider @ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United’s priority in the transfer window is to sell players.

Over the 2019/20 season, the club plunged a whopping £108.18m into signing players across last summer and the January transfer window (per Transfermarkt).

In terms of incoming transfer fees, the Hammers were only able to recoup £49.48m in player sales (per Transfermarkt), meaning the Irons had a net spend of -£58.7m.

So, in the latest episode of The West Ham Way podcast, @ExWHUemployee revealed that first and foremost this summer, David Moyes is targeting player sales.

To kick-off this quiz on David Moyes on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at the London Stadium against?

He said: “The priority for West Ham at the moment, as I’ve said repeatedly on these things, is that we need to sell before we can buy. So, that means getting rid of some of the big hitters.

“Your likes of [Felipe] Andersons, your [Manuel] Lanzinis, your [Andriy] Yarmolenkos maybe. If possible, your [Jack] Wilsheres, although I doubt anyone’s going to take him.

“If people make an offer for [Ryan] Fredericks – I don’t think they’re going to actively try and sell him, but I think with Ben Johnson performing how he has done, if the right offer comes in for Fredericks, they’d let him go. He’s on big wages as well.

“[Aaron] Cresswell, [if the] right offer comes in for him I think he’ll go, [Arthur] Masuaku [too]. I think [Fabian] Balbuena. I think they want to really re-shape things. So, they’re looking to sell a number of players.

“Oh, [Albian] Ajeti is another one. Obviously, they’ve already got [Carlos] Sanchez and [Pablo] Zabaleta off the wage bill, Roberto is another. So, they need to sell before they buy.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what @ExWHUemployee had to say, it seems that Moyes has his eyes on shipping out a number of first-team players from the London Stadium.

Do you think it is a good move for West Ham to sell players before the purchase any?

With all of the players listed by the in-the-know pundit having a combined market value of £78.66m according to Transfermarkt, the sales could be a big money-spinner for the Hammers.
