On the latest episode of the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen, Michael Bridge and Ricky Norwood have been reflecting on Spurs’ 2-1 win against Arsenal last weekend, as well as looking forward to the game against Newcastle United later this week.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Spurs Silence Arsenal‘ was the transfer business that the Lilywhites should be looking to do this summer. It has been suggested that Jose Mourinho’s side will be reliant on free transfers and swap deals, due to the financial impact of the current viral outbreak (per Evening Standard), but it still seems as if those on the podcast are expecting several names to be brought in.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Bridge, who works for Sky Sports, had to say about the potential transfer business that needs to be done this summer:

“You’ve got fans bickering online about certain situations, which we’re all aware about, and who we should have signed and who needs to leave the club. The biggest mistake I think Jose has made really over the last few weeks, is when he said I only need one or two [signings]. He doesn’t, he needs a lot more than that. He said against Bournemouth, he’s disappointed with people, he’s hurt.”

TIF Thoughts…

Mourinho did suggest that he wants to improve in two or three positions this summer, but we agree with Bridge that they will perhaps need more of an overhaul if they want to challenge next season, considering they are currently in eighth position in the Premier League.

We will have to wait and see what transfer dealings Spurs complete this summer and whether or not it is enough for Mourinho to push the North London club back into top-four contention next season.
