On the latest episode of the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, John Wenham, Harry Brooks and Leon Emirali have been reflecting on the 1-0 win against Everton from earlier in the week and looking ahead to Thursday’s clash with Bournemouth.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Fighting for Spurs‘, was the performance of Giovani Lo Celso in the recent win over Everton. The Argentinian produced another impressive display, with his shot in the first-half deflected in by Toffees defender Michael Keane, which helped the 24-year-old achieve a solid 6.89/10 rating.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Emirali had to say about the former PSG man on the podcast:

“He’s brilliant, he’s a fantastic player and I think when Mourinho first rubbed up, I’m not sure he was that convinced by him; he didn’t really give him that much of a chance and obviously saw what he’s all about in training and he’s been brilliant. He’s certainly been the brightest spark for Spurs and he’s exactly the kind of player we need in that midfield.

“Someone who can pick up the ball, run with it, look for a spot to play someone in and decent at crafting chances for himself.

“So yeah, he’s a brilliant player, absolutely fantastic. I think he’s definitely going to be one to watch. He’s got a lot of developing to do and he’s going to be a real bright spark for Spurs and long may it continue.”

TIF Thoughts…

Lo Celso has clearly endeared himself to those on the podcast during his time with the Lilywhites; despite having failed to contribute a goal or an assist in the Premier League thus far (ahead of Thursday’s game against Bournemouth).

Has Lo Celso been Spurs' brightest spark this season?

No

The Argentinian international has averaged a disappointing 6.56 rating for his performances in the top flight, however, his performances in the Champions League earlier this season were much more impressive, with the midfielder earning a 7.31 rating for his displays in that competition. Therefore, we can see why he has won over Emirali, and surely it is only a matter of time before the £36million-rated man gets his first goal contribution in the Premier League.
