On the topic of Levy and what he had found out about the Spurs chairman during his research for a recent article he helped produce for The Athletic, Pitt-Brooke shared some insight into what he had found out about Levy and how he operates in his job at the club.

He said: “The words that kept coming back when you asked about what is Daniel actually like, because he’s a very private person who doesn’t do an awful lot of media, and he does like to keep himself to himself, but the most common words I heard were: intelligent, very hardworking, very ambitious, completely lives and breathes his job – which has been running Tottenham for the last 20 years – private, humble, doesn’t especially seek the limelight.

“Sometimes with this kind of thing, you never know what you’re going to get back when you start speaking to people, but in this case, there was quite a lot of unanimity between all the various different sources.”

Levy was appointed to the board at the club back in December 2000 and is currently the longest-serving chairman of any Premier League club according to the official Spurs website.

Since Levy joined the club, Spurs’ highest Premier League finish saw them end the 2016/17 season in second place. However, the 2003/04 season saw them get their lowest league finish of the past 20 years by finishing in 14th place in the league table (per Transfermarkt).

In recent weeks, there have been groups of Spurs fans who have been protesting that they want to see Levy step down from his position and leave the club.

TIF Thoughts…

It’s nice to hear that Pitt-Brooke has spoken to a lot of people that all claim that Levy is a hardworking and ambitious person that only wants what is best for his club. However, there are still some Spurs fans around who may well disagree with those comments.
