On the latest episode of the Extra Inch podcast, Chris Miller and Nathan Clark have been reflecting on Spurs’ 2019/20 campaign and looking ahead to next season, with a discussion of some of the players that could leave or join the North London club this summer.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘So Long, Super Jan‘, was Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia. The duo were discussing potential transfer targets for Spurs from relegated clubs, with the Canaries having sealed an immediate return to the Championship after finishing bottom of the Premier League, and Miller was very complimentary of the Argentinian midfielder.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

He said:

“Buendia, I really like. I think if we didn’t have Jose Mourinho as our manager, I think he would be a really good signing and would play lots of games, but I can’t see us squeezing in another attacking midfielder in a Mourinho system.”

TIF Thoughts…

Despite Norwich’s disappointing season, Buendia certainly caught the eye; averaging an impressive 7.08 rating across his 36 appearances in the top-flight, which comfortably ranks him as the Canaries’ best performer in the Premier League (per Whoscored). The 23-year-old is arguably therefore too good for the Championship, and you could certainly see him being linked with a move away from Daniel Farke’s side this summer.

Do you think Spurs should try and sign Buendia this summer?

Yes

No

With Transfermarkt currently valuing him at £13.05 million, perhaps he could represent a fairly cheap option for Mourinho this summer, but as Miller suggests, with the number of attacking-midfielders and wingers already available to the Portuguese manager, it is perhaps difficult to see where the Norwich man would fit in at Spurs.
