On the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and also looking ahead to their game against Everton on Monday night.

One topic of discussion on the recent video was Spurs centre-back Toby Alderweireld. The Belgian international is yet to make an appearance for the North London club since the restart, but after their disappointing defensive display at Bramall Lane last week, Gold seems to think that the 31-year-old could be restored to the starting eleven against Everton on Monday night.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what the journalist had to say about the former Atletico Madrid defender: (17:31)

“[Eric] Dier and [Davinson] Sanchez after looking [like] a really good partnership, that moment, the [Lys] Mousset goal; it was Dier and [Ben] Davies completely just standing there watching him put the ball in the net, and then Sanchez [was] beaten so easily for the third goal as well. I think it pretty much opens up the door for Toby Alderweireld.”

He goes on to say later in the video: (18:00)

“I think he will probably come back in.”

TIF Thoughts…

Of the two centre-backs, it seems as if Sanchez should be the one dropped for the game against Everton on Monday night, as his rating of 5.91 against Sheffield United last week was far inferior to Dier’s 7.02 rating (per Whoscored). So far this season, Alderweireld has made 27 appearances in the Premier League; averaging a disappointing 6.79 rating, but it seems as if Gold believes the £21.6 million rated man will have a chance to reclaim his starting spot against Carlo Ancelotti’s side on Monday night.

It will be interesting to see if Mourinho makes any changes to his defence after the 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United last week and whether Alderweireld does come back in.
