In the latest video on his YouTube channel, Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on the 3-0 win against Leicester City last weekend, as well as some members of Jose Mourinho’s squad and looking at some potential transfers the north London club could complete this summer.

One topic of conversation on the recent video was the future of Kyle Walker-Peters, The young right-back joined Southampton on loan in the January transfer window and has impressed in his performances since the Premier League restart – particularly in wins against Manchester City and Bournemouth. It has also been suggested that the 23-year-old could potentially be used as part of a swap deal to sign Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojberg.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the Spurs academy graduate and his potential departure from the Lilywhites:

“Obviously, Tottenham have the ace in their hand of Kyle Walker-Peters, which for me, is a massive shame because I think he’s shown exactly all the things we’ve been saying about him, that actually he could be a really good right-back for Spurs. I think Mourinho touched on it the other day, it needs to be what makes him [Walker-Peters] happy.

“Clearly at Southampton, the fans love him, they’ve already taken to him, they think he’s terrific and if Spurs can use him to save themselves money on the Hojbjerg deal then they’ll get themselves another right back, I think that’s the way they’ll go.”

TIF Thoughts…

Considering how Walker-Peters has performed in his time with Southampton, it would perhaps be a shame to see him leave the Lilywhites. In his time with the north London club, the Englishman has made 24 appearances, contributing one goal and five assists (per Transfermarkt), so you could argue he hasn’t been given much of a chance in the senior side.

However, from the sounds of things, Spurs would potentially welcome a swap deal with Southampton for Hojbjerg, so it seems more likely that the right-back could make his stay at Southampton a permanent one at this stage.
