In the latest video on his YouTube channel, Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and looked ahead to their game against Everton on Monday night.

One topic of discussion was the latest news on Japhet Tanganga’s injury and whether or not he might be fit to play again this season. The young defender suffered a back injury before the restart, but Jose Mourinho confirmed at the weekend that he could return to training in the near future, although he also suggested that he probably wouldn’t be risked again this season (per Football.london).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the 21-year-old and his chances of featuring in the remaining top-flight fixtures:

“Tanganga, he said, is back in training next week, although he added the caveat that [he would] maybe be back for the last game of the season but they’re quite wary about that, purely because it’s a bit similar to the [Marcus] Rashford injury; it’s a stress fracture in the back and he said it’s such a big injury that maybe it’s just better leaving it now for next season.

“Tanganga’s going to be a big part of the Tottenham future, so I think that’s probably the best thing to do.”

TIF Thoughts…

It has been a breakthrough season for Tanganga, with the youngster having made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites. The defender has impressed in his performances in the Premier League, averaging a very solid 7/10 rating across his six appearances in the top flight (per WhoScored).

Do you agree that Tanganga is a big part of Spurs' future?

After Spurs’ defensive shortcomings against Sheffield United last week, you could certainly argue that they are in need of defensive changes, but it doesn’t appear as if Tanganga will appear again this season. However, with Jan Vertonghen looking likely to leave Spurs when his contract expires at the end of the season, perhaps the 21-year-old will be trusted to step up as his replacement under Mourinho next season.
