On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown, Lee McQueen and Daniel Merriman discussed the latest goings-on at the North London club and looked ahead to Thursday night’s fixture against Sheffield United

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Another Cup Final‘, was Spurs winger Steven Bergwijn. The 22-year-old impressed in his side’s recent draw against Manchester United; earning a 7.66 rating for his performance, and he looks to have won over those on the podcast in his brief time with the North London club.

Spurs signed the youngster from PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window, and he already has three Premier League goals to his name ahead of the game against Sheffield United on Thursday.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what McQueen had to say about the Dutchman when asked who he wanted to see start out of Bergwijn and Lucas Moura against the Blades:

“I’d go with ‘Bergy’ as well. I think he’s come on, he’s full of energy, he’s full of pace, he can play [on the] left, he can play on the right, he can go up top. He’s scored already again since the restart and he’s got all the attributes, I think to really drive that team going forward.”

TIF Thoughts…

When you compare Bergwijn’s average rating of 6.95 in the Premier League, to Moura’s 6.88, then it seems as if the 22-year-old is the better option for Jose Mourinho ahead of Thursday’s game. The Brazilian also disappointed in Spurs’ last game against West Ham, when he was selected ahead of Bergwijn, so perhaps we will see the former PSV man restored to the starting line-up against Chris Wilder’s side.

Either way, it seems as if McQueen is a big fan of the £25.2 million rated man and is hoping to see him establish himself as the first-choice right-winger in the Lilywhites squad.
