On the latest episode of the Extra Inch podcast, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark, and Bardi have been reacting to Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 defeat against Sheffield United on Thursday evening.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Ragecast‘, was the absence of Ryan Sessegnon. The 20-year-old winger failed to make the bench against Sheffield United, with his last appearance coming back in March. Considering Spurs signed the Englishman from Fulham for £25 million in the summer transfer window, you would have perhaps expected him to make more than the six appearances he has so far for Spurs in the Premier League.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Clark had to say about the former Fulham man:

“We haven’t been seeing Sessegnon coming off the bench. I don’t know if there’s an injury there maybe, that’ll give him some excuse. But this is a very, very special young player.

“He’s just not seeing minutes at all which is really frustrating because obviously we do want to eventually get beyond Ben Davies.”

TIF Thoughts…

Sessegnon struggled to have much impact with Fulham last season in the Premier League; contributing just two goals and six assists in 35 appearances (per WhoScored) for Scott Parker’s side, so perhaps it is easy to understand why he hasn’t been a first-team regular at Spurs under both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho.

We can also see why Clark wants the youngster to step up and replace Ben Davies, with the Welsh international seriously disappointing in his performance against Sheffield United; earning a 5.96 rating for his display. Now that Spurs’ Champions League hopes are all but over, perhaps we will see the Portuguese manager be a bit more experimental with his team in the remaining fixtures and give Sessegnon a chance at left-back.
