On the latest episode of the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown, Lee McQueen and Daniel Merriman have been discussing the latest goings-on at the North London club and looking ahead to Thursday night’s fixture against Sheffield United.
One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Another Cup Final‘, was the form of Harry Kane since the restart of the Premier League. The England captain scored his first goal of 2020 in the 2-0 win against West Ham last week, having spent much of the season out injured due to a hamstring tear.
However, after his goal last week, it seems as if Merriman feels that he will soon be back to his best, starting with the game against Sheffield United. Here’s what the journalist had to say about the 26-year-old:
“I think he’s gonna start, this is the time where he will be feeling most fresh, so would be most frustrated not to start.
“I wouldn’t necessarily play Kane for the full 90 if he’s struggling like he was at the United game, but I think he’s a different beast. He’s the beast that we know and love. So you’ve got to start him.”

Despite his injury troubles, Kane is still Spurs’ top scorer in the Premier League this season; with 12 top-flight goals to his name (per Whoscored), so it would certainly be a surprise to see him not start against Chris Wilder’s side on Thursday evening.
The Englishman confessed that he was ‘tired’ after scoring late on against West Ham, but after more than a week’s rest between games, you would hope that he will be fresh and fully fit to face the Blades.
