On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, John Wenham, Harry Brooks and Leon Emirali have been discussing the 1-0 win against Everton from Monday night and looking ahead to Thursday’s clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Fighting For Spurs‘, was Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn. The 22-year-old joined the Lilywhites from PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window and has impressed in his time with the club thus far; contributing three goals in the Premier League, which has helped him average a very respectable 6.80 rating (prior to Thursday’s game with Bournemouth).
Here’s what Brooks, a football coach/analyst, had to say about the Dutch international:
“I myself can’t claim to have coached Steven yet, [I] would have done by now, but obviously [the current viral outbreak] put a delay to that but that will happen soon in pre-season when obviously, there’s more time to work. So that will happen, which is fantastic. Yeah, [he’s] a fantastic player, fantastic pro. He’ll go on and do very big things. I truly believe that.”
TIF Thoughts…
Brooks certainly seems to rate Bergwijn and it is no surprise when you consider that he already has three Spurs goals to his name this season.
Do you think Bergwijn can go on to become world-class with Spurs?
Yes
No
After he was benched against Everton on Monday evening, fans will perhaps be hoping to see the Dutchman return to the starting eleven against Bournemouth on Thursday night, where he will no doubt be keen to help Jose Mourinho’s side to another three points in their quest for a European spot for next season.
