Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to slam the performance of Serge Aurier following their 0-0 draw against Bournemouth on Thursday evening.
Despite earning an impressive 7.63/10 rating for his performance at the Vitality Stadium, the Ivory Coast international was subject to a lot of criticism from Lilywhites supporters on Twitter. The 27-year-old has been featuring further up the pitch for Spurs since the restart – almost as a right-winger – as can be seen by his heat map against the Cherries.
However, he was unable to be the creative force Spurs are perhaps reliant on him to be, with the north London club failing to register a shot on target in the whole game against the relegation-threatened home side.
One positive that Spurs fans can take, however, is that Jose Mourinho’s side have now secured back-to-back clean sheets and securing their seventh shutout of the season in the process, which perhaps goes some way towards explaining the former PSG man’s impressive rating against Eddie Howe’s outfit. They were perhaps lucky to do so, however, with Callum Wilson’s late goal ruled out after it deflected off Joshua King’s arm on the way in (per BBC).
Was Aurier poor against Bournemouth?
Yes
No
A sample of tweets from Spurs fans slating Aurier’s display can be seen below.
Don’t know how many more times I need to say it. With us relying on Aurier to put in good crosses, we will never score goals. Previously we had Tripper, Eriksen and Walker putting in balls from that position and it was so effective. He is awful at crossing! #COYS #THFC

We can lambast these manager but those players today were shocking offensively. Wrong choice after wrong choice over and over again. How many times was aurier in space only to waste the opportunity? #THFC

@Ben_Davies33 @HarryWinks @ErikLamela @MoussaSissoko @Serge_aurier deserve to be released from their contracts with immediate effect. A disgrace to this football club.

I do. It was shocking. Worst #THFC team for years. Mourinho needs sacking if only for picking Aurier every game.

Lots of Spurs fans were disappointed with the right-back’s crossing in the game.
#THFC I always thought Walker was a poor crosser of the ball. but watching Aurier, well, words fail me.

There’s no point leaving Aurier as the free man, if his crossing is as poor as it has been today. #THFC

It is clear that these Spurs fans were not impressed with Aurier’s display against Bournemouth.
