Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to some quotes from Jose Mourinho following the 3-1 defeat against Sheffield United on Thursday night.
The Portuguese manager was clearly less than impressed with the VAR decision that saw Harry Kane’s ‘equaliser’ chalked off, and made his feelings about VAR clear in the post-match press conference, saying:
“I can’t say what I think, I will be in trouble, I will be suspended and I don’t want to be, don’t ask me, I cannot say what I think! The [referee] here is not the referee, the referee is hidden.”
Last Word On Spurs shared these quotes with Spurs fans on Twitter after it was originally shared by Football Daily, and it has attracted the attention of plenty of Lilywhites supporters. The 3-1 defeat against Sheffield United seemingly all but ends Spurs’ chances of securing a Champions League spot for next season, so you can perhaps understand why a lot of Spurs fans were frustrated with Mourinho in their replies.
Is Mourinho right about the referees?

That performance has nothing to do with the ref, both of them.

Lots of Spurs fans felt Mourinho was to blame for the team’s poor performance, and shouldn’t be focusing on the refereeing decisions.
Doesn’t hide his bad team selection, set up and motivation.

Our team is hidden. Absolute horror show. Can’t remember the last time I thought we played well… #COYS

Other Spurs fans were more sympathetic to the 57-year-old’s comments, however.
Mourinho is right about this. The ref gave the goal. But it is the worst ever VAR decision.
It would not surprise me who was in the VAR office tonight?
MIKE DEAN? Can someone confirm this?? He hates Spurs, ever since Poch did him! I am so angry now. The players lack hunger!!!!!— David Williams (@DavidWilliamsDK) July 2, 2020
To be fair he is actually right about the referee

Although some Spurs fans seem to agree with Mourinho’s comments about the referee, others felt that the performance should have been a lot better.
