During a recent edition of Tottenham Hotspur-focused podcast ‘The Extra Inch’, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark, and @BardiTFC discussed the future of out-on-loan Spurs right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters joined Southampton on loan from Tottenham back in January. The 23-year-old right-back has made just four Premier League appearances for the Saints since moving to the club so far, however, as per Transfermarkt, he is set to remain at St. Mary’s until the end of July.

During his appearance on a recent edition of ‘The Extra Inch’ podcast, Clark raised the topic of Walker-Peters’ future, saying that the right-back: “is starting to get some games for Southampton. He played and played pretty well, actually, in their game against Watford.

“Watford were horrible in that match, but Walker-Peters put in a decent shift and their fans desperately want to sign him which could be useful in our pursuit of [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg, it gives us some options for doing a deal there.”

Miller then responded to Clark by quoting the Saints’ manager Ralph Hasenhuttl as saying that: “We will give him more moments to show up in the run-in and then have a decision to make this summer”

In addition to that, Miller added: “Southampton are looking for a right-back, they’ve needed a right-back for a little while and Walker-Peters is very much in consideration. I think it’ll be interesting to see how he performs over the next couple of games and how that looks for both clubs.”

Do you think that Kyle Walker-Peters will move to Southampton this summer?

TIF Thoughts…

If it is true that Southampton fans “desperately want to sign” Walker-Peters, then that could be useful for Spurs in their pursuit of Hojbjerg, as Clark said.

As per The Telegraph, Tottenham are ‘confident of signing’ Southampton’s Danish midfielder Hojbjerg this summer, however, this article also states that Spurs ‘must raise the transfer fee through sales’ if they want to secure this signing.

If Southampton decide that they want to sign Walker-Peters permanently following the end of his loan spell, then the 23-year-old could be used as a bargaining chip for Spurs in their pursuit of Hojbjerg and that deal could potentially be beneficial for all parties involved.
