Journalist Rob Dawson joined Alexis Nunes on ESPN recently to discuss the latest Premier League transfer news and Dawson spent some time talking about the reports linking Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale with a return to Tottenham Hotspur.

Bale, who is currently valued at £25.2m according to Transfermarkt, left Spurs to join Real Madrid back in 2013 and some recent reports have linked the Welshman with a return to north London.

Dawson shared his thoughts on the possibility of Bale returning to his former club and revealed that Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is a fan of the player during his recent appearance on ESPN, saying: “The link with Spurs and particularly Jose Mourinho, is down to the fact that Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Gareth Bale when he was in charge at Man United, so Gareth Bale is a player that he likes very much.”

However, while Dawson shared that Spurs boss Mourinho is a fan of the Welsh attacker, the reporter went on to say that the 31-year-old “has no intention of leaving Real Madrid.”

TIF Thoughts…

While the fact that Dawson shared that Mourinho is fond of Bale may make it seem as though the door might be open for the Real Madrid attacker to return to his former club, the fact that the reporter also shared that Bale “has no intention of leaving Real Madrid” would make this potential transfer seem less likely to occur.

Furthermore, considering that the current viral outbreak has reportedly had a significant impact on Spurs’ finances and the club are expected to have to ‘rely on free transfers, loans and swap deals’ this summer, it may be unlikely that the Lilywhites will sign Bale.
