Niall McCaughan, Adam Keyworth and Steve McNorton appeared on a recent edition of the Football Social Daily podcast and the trio spent some time discussing the Premier League’s bottom-placed side Norwich City during this show.

Norwich’s most recent Premier League loss to fellow relegation-battling side Watford gave the Canaries their sixth straight Premier League defeat. Now, with just four league games left to play this season, it appears as though a relegation may be on the horizon for Daniel Farke’s side.

To kick off this 1990s Premier League quiz, which season was the Premier League's inaugural campaign?

While discussing Norwich’s potential relegation during this recent edition of the Football Social Daily podcast, Keyworth shared some optimism about the Canaries’ chances of returning to the Premier League in the future and also discussed some of the “great players” within Norwich’s current squad.

Keyworth said: “They are a team who, when they do go down, they’re going to be in a really good position to come back up because they’ve always done it.

“They’ve been that yo-yo team that can go down, rebuild and come back up and there are some great players in that Norwich [team] – by great, I mean, they’re batting well above the team at Norwich.

“I’d say, arguably, the entirety of the back-four will get a move. [There’s] some great young English players in there – [Ben] Godfrey, [Jamal] Lewis, [Max] Aarons. You’ve got [Todd] Cantwell, [Emiliano] Buendia, [Teemu] Pukki will end up getting a move as well, despite him going bang out of form.

“Those players are going to get big moves and I think Norwich will be fine, but they are down.”

TIF Thoughts…

Keyworth’s comments may be encouraging for Norwich City supporters, as he seems confident that the Canaries will return to the Premier League even if they do ultimately suffer relegation this term.

Judging by his comments on the “great players” within Norwich’s squad, it seems as though Keyworth believes that the Canaries can cash in on some of their players in order to fund a rebuild that may see them return to England’s top tier.

He mentions Godfrey, Lewis, Aarons, Cantwell, Buendia and Pukki as players that could leave the club this summer following a relegation, potentially helping the club to fund a rebuild.

According to Transfermarkt, these six players, as well as loanee Ondrej Duda, are the Canaries’ most valuable players at present and Pukki, the least-valuable of these six players, is worth at least twice as much as any other Norwich City player according to the website.

With that in mind, Norwich may be able to recoup plenty of money from selling these players, however, they would still likely have to acquire quality replacements to secure a return to England’s top flight.
