Norwich City legend Darren Huckerby has been talking about the club’s midfielder Emiliano Buendia and has issued his opinion on the Argentine.

Huckerby was present on the latest episode of the ‘On the Ball’ podcast and the panel talked about many things involving the Canaries. One thing Huckerby chose to focus on was Buendia – particularly his recent performances and how he has a chance to prove himself now.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Buendia has featured in all of Norwich’s Premier League games since the restart, though he is yet to score this season. In fact, Norwich themselves are yet to score a single goal since returning to action in June (via Transfermarkt).

When talking about Buendia, Huckerby initially had some criticism for how Buendia doesn’t score as much as he should.

He said: “The worst thing about it is you can see he’s got the ability to shoot. He’s got an ability to move it to the side and get a shot off. I don’t know if he tries to be too clever or just tries to be David Silva.”

Will Buendia leave Norwich this summer?

Yes, he'll leave

Yes, he'll leave

No, he'll stay

No, he'll stay

But Huckerby said that because of the increased exposure of the club as a Premier League side, Buendia and his teammates have the chance to prove to everyone what they are really capable of.

He said: “For him playing, he must realise that [he’s] being watched. The biggest thing about this restart is more people have watched Norwich City players in the last three weeks than through probably the last 10 seasons because they’re live on TV and there are millions of people watching them. So if you’re trying to get a move somewhere and you want to show everybody what you’re about, this is the perfect opportunity to do it.”

Huckerby believes that Buendia now has the perfect chance to make an impact in the Premier League, particularly if the Argentine wants to get a move away from Carrow Road in the summer.

TIF Thoughts…

While Buendia is yet to score a single goal in the Premier League this season, he has racked up an impressive WhoScored rating of 7.17/10 this season. He also has seven assists to his name in the league and has picked up the highest WhoScored rating at Norwich City this season. It shows that despite not having scored, he has made a mark.

He has picked up ratings of 6.57, 7.0, 6.15 and 7.04 since the restart and this shows that Buendia hasn’t had a bad time at all, even though he hasn’t directly affected the scoresheet over that time. But to attract clubs towards him, one would think the Argentine needs to score more goals and have a better final product in his play – and Huckerby is right to point that out.
