In his latest blog, Richard Keys claims that the Premier League will approve the proposed takeover of Newcastle United by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium soon.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

The BeIN Sports host even claimed that it would be done by Friday from what he has heard.

Here is what he had to say on the Saudi-backed takeover of the Toon.

“Any day now, the PL will nod through the Saudi bid for Newcastle. This is not for the Newcastle Chronicle because they promised some time ago not to quote me – but I’m told it’ll happen Friday.”

However, he then went on to express his displeasure that this takeover was going ahead.

“It’ll happen not because the Saudis are ‘fit and proper’. There is no formula by which they, collectively or individually, pass any of the PL’s tests in that respect. No, it’ll happen because the British Govt want it to.”

So, it seems as if Keys is predicting the takeover to finally go through, but he is not happy about it.

TIF Thoughts…

His mention of The Chronicle likely refers to a statement they made in 2018 claiming that they wouldn’t run any stories based on anything Keys has said.

Keys has been against this takeover for a while now, with constant messages claiming that it should be blocked, but it seems that he has admitted defeat and conceded that it will happen.

However, considering that Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has continuously claimed that this is a confidential process, it is unclear how Keys would know this.

It will be interesting to see if Keys’ prediction comes true and the takeover does indeed go through on Friday.

The deal was agreed in April, and we are now in July, so we must be approaching the Premier League’s final decision?

We certainly hope so.
