Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

The former Newcastle striker discussed various other Toon-related topics but spent a bit of time on Longstaff’s future, and it looks like he can’t see the 20-year-old staying at St. James’ Park beyond the end of the season.

He has a contract offer on the table from Udinese for £30,000 per week, and Newcastle have put an offer on the table of £20,000 per week, but Macdonald seems to think that the Toon won’t be improving their offer.

Here is what he had to say on Longstaff:

“I think that Matty Longstaff knows exactly what he’ll be earning by going to Udinese, he knows exactly what they are offering him.

“Newcastle aren’t getting anywhere near it, nowhere near it at all, and they’re not going to budge in their stance with Matty, and I think it’s a shame.”

It looks like the former Toon striker has resigned himself to the Toon losing Longstaff at the end of the season.

Do you think this the end for Matty Longstaff at Newcastle?

TIF Thoughts…

The 20-year-old received the offer of £30,000 per week from Udinese earlier in the year, but he has not signed either the deal on the table from the Toon or the Italian side.

However, what might not help Newcastle’s hopes of keeping him could be the fact that Steve Bruce has barely used him since the restart.

The 20-year-old has managed just 27 minutes in the league since the Premier League restarted and once again, he was an unused substitute in the Toon’s 0-0 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

It will certainly be interesting to see where Longstaff is playing his football by the start of next season.
