Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

The Daily Telegraph reporter spent a lot of time on Bruce and how he has done this season and provided a view on what he thinks might happen with the current Toon boss if he is not backed in the transfer window.

Edwards discussed many other Toon-related topics but spent a bit of time on this subject and what the former Sunderland manager wants to see in the transfer window.

He said: “He knows what he wants to do this summer; he has got a chance to make this his team, which is why I talked at the very start of this about ‘let’s see what he does this summer, let’s see what the recruitment is like this summer.’”

Edwards then went on to state that if the recruitment is poor and he doesn’t get who he wants, then he thinks Bruce should maybe question what he is doing.

“If he doesn’t get that, I think Steve Bruce would have to ask the question, ‘what is the point?’

“That’s my gut feeling.

“If other clubs around them – West Ham, Aston Villa – all of those clubs down at the bottom who are around Newcastle’s level, if they start spending more money than Newcastle and he looks at it, does he really want to put himself through another season?”

It seems then that Edwards believes that if Bruce is not backed sufficiently, he might consider leaving the Toon.

Do you think Bruce would walk if Newcastle have a bad transfer window?

No, he is just happy to have the job

TIF Thoughts…

As it stands, the Toon have £35m plus player sales to play with in the transfer market, so Bruce might have to be clever in the transfer window.

There is a proposed takeover that has hit the buffers with the Premier League, so it looks as if Bruce will have to try and bring in the players he wants with the budget he has been given.

If that doesn’t happen, then could he walk away? It would be interesting to see what happens, depending on how the Toon’s transfer window goes.
