George Caulkin has been on the latest episode of the Pod On The Tyne podcast and has been talking about the proposed takeover of Newcastle United.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

Caulkin discussed many other topics, but he spent a fair bit of time on the proposed takeover of the Toon and, in particular, the timeline and people predicting when this would be announced.

Here is what he had to say on that:

“Richard Keys kindly furnished us with a timeline of saying it was going to happen on Friday – he’s been wrong before, everybody has been wrong before, and that includes me.

“The one thing that nobody has got right has been a timeline, and there have been timelines from the start.

“I mean, that was said to me again yesterday: ‘we were told up to 30 days’, so that was reported in good faith, but it’s not proved anything like that.”

Caulkin is right; many have tried to predict when this takeover would happen, and we are now in week 16 of this process.

Do you think that Keys will be right with his prediction?

TIF Thoughts…

The Premier League’s required checks were supposed to take four weeks, but here we are in week 16, and still, nothing has been decided.

Since the process started, Neil Custis claimed that a deal would be announced on the 1st of June, and then in late June, it was also thought that the PL were close to announcing a decision, but nothing happened.

Now Richard Keys has had a go, and we will just have to see if he is also wrong.

So, Caulkin is right many people have had a crack at predicting when something would happen, and all have got it wrong.
