A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from Henry Winter after the Toon’s proposed takeover by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium fell through.
The Times reporter tweeted that there is other interest from America in buying the Toon – and he is not talking about Henry Mauriss, either.
Winter claimed that there are two US groups, one of which is weighing up a move for Newcastle or another club.
This post got these Toon fans talking, and many were intrigued by the idea of other investors.
Do you believe this tweet?
No
Yes
Any other buyers wanting to make moves?

As a sports journo I totally respect. I only hope you’re right. The sense of loss over something we never even had is overwhelming for many of us. Another whole season of mediocrity (at best) is too depressing to contemplate. We need Ashley GONE.

Henry obviously emotions are running high today and people will struggle to believe other bidders are at the table, is this genuine, as this entire process has been incredibly painful for NUFC supporters!

I do hope you are right. ????

The Red Bull Group for sure.

Staveley’s Saudi-backed group withdrew their bid on Thursday, before Staveley blamed the Premier League for everything.
However, that deal might not be dead yet, as Mike Ashley is thought to still be 100% committed to doing a deal with Staveley’s group, so it remains to be seen what happens there.
There is also Mauriss, who now believes he is in pole position to buy Newcastle, and though Winter claims there is other interest, these Toon fans are not convinced.
I don’t view Mauriss as a serious prospect – why has his interest only been recently expressed when the club has effectively been for sale “at the right price” for ten years. Not credible in the slightest.

The club has been on the market for the best part of 5 years, football clubs have lost 30% of revenue because of Pandemic, economies are crashing, and there’s suddenly a queue of people wanting to spend £350m with no guarantee of return. Highly sceptical

Now that the PIF bid has fallen through, just watch these “other bidders” also slide away into nothing.

For now, though Newcastle fans are understandably devastated by this news, they will just have to hope that Staveley comes back in, Mauriss’ bid is real or these mysterious bidders Winter is talking about are also serious.
If not, then the Toon could be stuck with Ashley, who has pledged to support Steve Bruce in the transfer market, but still wants to sell the Toon.
