Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news concerning the club’s proposed takeover.
This comes after Professor Simon Chadwick shared a post on his Twitter page that contained an article from Middle East Monitor which claims that the “controversial purchase of Newcastle United Football Club by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is set to go through, despite ongoing uncertainty” surrounding the deal.
Professor Chadwick captioned his tweet saying that: “after initially being sceptical, KSA’s dogged pursuit of this matter suggests acquisition will go ahead. Next issues are timing & consequences of [the] decision. Otherwise, [the] transfer market faces [the] prospect of cash-rich Saudis gate crashing. Other clubs be aware.”
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this latest update.

This is what I think the Premier League are holding off for. The thought of a cash rich club under a FFP free window scares the more powerful clubs and Masters has been reluctant to upset it’s big 6. If they closed the window tomorrow I bet the deal will pass within hours!

The article also claimed that Newcastle are “expected” to start the next Premier League season with current owner Mike Ashley still in charge, but that the proposed takeover is still “expected” to happen.
Why do people expect Ashley to be in charge in 7 weeks time? Are the PL actually not wanting us to invest in the squad etc? They’ve had 4 months already. Surely they have to approve or decline the sale this week!

Do you think the takeover will be announced before the start of the new PL season?
Yes
No
Amanda Staveley, PCP, Saudi-Arabia’s PIF and the Reuben brothers are currently waiting for an answer from the Premier League’s Owners’ and Directors’ test before the proposed takeover can be completed.
In response to this latest post from Professor Chadwick, some Newcastle fans were excited by this latest update.
Great! So why don’t the Premier League prevent Liverpool and Man Utd spending money too?

Now that Professor Chadwick has shared this post on his Twitter page sharing his thoughts on the proposed deal, this quickly grabbed the attention of a lot of Newcastle fans who were not shy in sharing their responses to his post.
Could that be another reason for the delay, to let the top 6 get their deals early done maintaining the status quo before we have a chance to compete financially therefore handicapping us for next season.

Now that the Premier League season has come to an end, these Newcastle fans will be hoping that the club, their potential owners and the Premier League authorities will be able to get the takeover finalised and bring an end to the waiting that the Newcastle fans have had to do over the past few months.
