Newcastle United news Twitter account @NUFC360 caught the attention of many Toon supporters recently after they posted a tweet sharing a post from another Toon-focused Twitter account that provided an update on the latest measures that Saudi Arabia has introduced in order to protect intellectual property.
This tweet from @NufcInsight included a link to a post from the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property’s official website which explains that Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers has approved ‘the indicative form for a memorandum of cooperation in the field of intellectual property’.
This post went on to say that this will be important for the country in terms of developing ‘existing strategic partnerships’ and contributing ‘to their continuation’.

As per Chronicle Live, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are involved in an ongoing Newcastle United takeover attempt and according to the BBC, a recent World Trade Organisation (WTO) ruling which declared that the Saudi government ‘helped’ pirate television broadcaster BeoutQ to ‘breach international piracy laws’ was said to have ‘complicated’ this takeover bid.
This piracy issue reportedly led to BeIN Sports, who are ‘one of the Premier League’s principal overseas broadcasting partners’, to request that the English top flight block this takeover bid back in April.
Now, in their recent tweet reacting to this update on the latest measures that the Saudi government have put in place to try and improve the protection of intellectual property in the country, @NUFC360 state that they believe this latest development ‘will no doubt be of interest to the Premier League’ and plenty of Toon fans replied to this tweet to share their thoughts on this news in relation to the ongoing Toon takeover bid.

Some Newcastle fans shared some optimism about the ongoing Saudi-backed Toon takeover bid in response to this news.
Is this positive news for the Saudi-backed Toon takeover bid?YESNO |
They’ve obviously been given a conditional pass on the takeover. Why would they go through all this if they were still going to fail the tests. It’s got to be a yes… if you do X Y Z

Yeah I think the time it has taken is a good thing in this sense. You can’t imagine them taking 3 months to say ‘no’

The effort theyre going through does make me feel good about the plan they have for the club, i mean would you go through all of this effort to build a mid table premier league club? They will have a point to prove ??

Meanwhile, other Toon supporters commented on the ‘hoops’ that they believe the Premier League are making Saudi Arabia jump through in order for the Newcastle United takeover to be approved in response to this tweet from @NUFC360.
the amount of hoops they are being put through just hope its worth it.

One Newcastle fan replied to this post to comment on the length of time that this takeover is taking to receive the Premier League’s approval, saying that while they believe most Toon fans think that the takeover will happen, the length of time that it is taking to receive approval has made it less exciting for the club’s supporters.
It feels like most people are fairly confident it will happen but with all this waiting they’ve had all the excitement sucked out of them.

Considering that the BBC reported that the WTO’s ruling on Saudi Arabia’s involvement with beoutQ was said to have ‘complicated’ this takeover bid, it may be understandable why this update on the latest measures that Saudi Arabia has put in place to increase the protection of intellectual property in the country have drawn optimistic reactions from some Toon fans.
