Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie caught the attention of plenty of Newcastle United supporters recently after he posted a tweet providing a Toon injury update ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester City

Newcastle are set to take on Manchester City on Wednesday, however, as per Downie, they could be going into that game without Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron, both of whom are “major doubts” for this fixture, while Jamaal Lascelles and Andy Carroll are also said to be doubtful for this game. Meanwhile, Downie has revealed that both Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff are ruled out of Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City.

After the Sky Sports journalist shared this injury news on Twitter, some Newcastle United fans replied to his post to share their thoughts on this update.

Plenty of the Newcastle supporters who responded to Downie’s injury update called for all of these injury doubts to be rested for Wednesday’s clash with City.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

Some Toon fans replied to this post to share that they would like to see some youth players get a first-team opportunity in this game.

The Toon have been enjoying an impressive spell of form lately, losing just one of their five games in all competitions since English football restarted in June. That one loss came in Newcastle’s FA Cup clash against City on 28th June and with that in mind, it may be understandable if some Toon fans don’t have much faith in their side to get a result from this midweek game and that might explain why these Newcastle fans don’t seem to be too concerned by this injury news and seem happy for their side to rest players against City in midweek, especially since the Toon are now mathematically safe from relegation this season.
