A lot of Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a tweet that was recently posted by @ChronicleNUFC which shares a link to an article that discusses Toon loanee Nabil Bentaleb’s future at St. James’ Park.

This article from ChronicleLive states that Bentaleb ‘has been a first-team regular at Newcastle United’ since making the move to the North East club on loan from Bundesliga side Schalke back in January, having been ‘frozen out’ by the German club.

Bentaleb has made 11 appearances in England’s top flight since joining the Toon, playing in each of the club’s last eight league games. However, as per WhoScored, Bentaleb has earned an uninspiring overall rating of 6.49/10 from his 11 Premier League appearances this term, which is a lower overall rating than 17 other Newcastle players have earned in England’s top-flight during the 2019/20 campaign.

This report from ChronicleLive also includes some comments about Bentaleb from Toni Lieto, who is the Schalke correspondent from German magazine Kicker.

He shared his thoughts on Bentaleb’s loan move to the Toon from Schalke’s point of view, stating that he believes this move was seen as an opportunity for the Gelsenkirchen-based club to put the Algerian midfielder in the ‘shop window’ ahead of the 2020 summer transfer window.

Plenty of Newcastle fans replied to @ChronicleNUFC’s tweet sharing this article to provide their view on Bentaleb and many of the Toon supporters who replied to this tweet shared a critical assessment of the midfielder and declared that they don’t want to see him join Newcastle United on a permanent basis.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

As per the BBC, an option to buy Bentaleb on a permanent basis was included in the deal that brought him to St. James’ Park on loan back in January, however, plenty of these Newcastle fans shared that they don’t want to see their club exercise this option in response to this tweet.

Do you want to see Bentaleb at St. James' Park next season?

NO

NO

Considering that he has earned a lower overall rating than 17 other Newcastle players in the Premier League this season according to WhoScored, it may fair to say that Bentaleb has failed to set the world alight since joining the Toon on loan.

With that in mind, as well as the fact that he has become a ‘first-team regular’ since his arrival, as per ChronicleLive, it mightn’t be too surprising that these Toon fans appear to have seen enough of Bentaleb.
