Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been discussing Jacob Murphy and his future at St. James Park.

This comes after Newcastle news Twitter account @ChronicleNUFC shared a post on their page that contained an article from Chronicle Live revealing that Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk has admitted to Yorkshire Live that he would like to keep Murphy at Hillsborough for at least another season.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

The Chronicle then captioned their post asking their followers if they would let Murphy leave the club or not.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on Murphy and what they believe the club should do with him.

Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post:

The 25-year-old, who is currently valued at £3.15 million according to Transfermarkt, first signed to Newcastle back in 2017 from Norwich City for a fee of £10.17 million (per Transfermarkt)

Murphy joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan deal at the start of the season. During his spell there, Murphy has managed to make a total of 41 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in the process, including a goal against QPR at the weekend (per Transfermarkt).

Has Jacob Murphy been a flop for Newcastle?

With The Chronicle asking their followers if they think the club should let Murphy go this summer, this sparked a big reaction with many Newcastle fans responding with their thoughts on the situation.

Looking at these replies from this group of Newcastle fans, it would safe to assume that none of them see a future at St. James’ Park for the winger.

Maybe the best thing for everyone involved now would be for Newcastle to work out a deal for Murphy that would see him stay at Sheffield Wednesday on a permanent basis if that’s what the player wants to do.
