Mark Douglas has been speaking on the latest episode of the Everything is Black and White podcast and has revealed that the potential new owners of Newcastle United might not replace Steve Bruce straight away.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

Douglas discussed other Toon-related topics and spent a bit of time on the job Bruce has done and if he will be given a chance under a new regime.

Here is what he had to say on that situation while discussing an article he produced on Monday:

“I felt that they [the potential new owners] would probably take the attitude that because there’s not a lot of time now because this [takeover] has been delayed so much that they would probably decide that Steve Bruce has done a reasonable job this season, players like him, he’s an experienced guy, he’s easy to work with.

“They won’t maybe look to make a change straight away if they don’t have the time because they’ll see him as capable enough.”

It seems as if Douglas believes that Amanda Staveley’s group might end up sticking with Bruce because of the delay to their deal to take the Toon from Mike Ashley.

Do you think that Bruce could be in charge under new ownership?

No, they will have someone lined up

No, they will have someone lined up

Yes, he deserves a chance

Yes, he deserves a chance

TIF Thoughts…

The deal for Staveley’s consortium to buy Newcastle was agreed in April with Ashley.

However, the Premier League is still checking over it, and with the season now less than three weeks away from ending, the potential new owners might be worried about planning for next season.

If the delay goes on any longer, could they see Bruce as a capable option next season?

The likes of Rafael Benitez and Mauricio Pochettino have been linked, but if they aren’t given the time to mould the squad, then maybe Bruce will stay at Newcastle.

If this takeover does get approved, it will be interesting to see what the new owners decide to do.
