Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

Robertson spent a bit of time on Newcastle and the future of Bruce as he offered his opinion on the current Toon boss.

Here is what he had to say about the future of Bruce and why he might not last long should Newcastle be taken over.

“His win percentage when he joined Newcastle was the second-lowest of any manager who had managed 200 games or more: 28%.

“I mean that will have risen a little bit since, but it’s not great, and part of that is to do with the clubs he’s managed; he’s only had two top-10 finishes, I think.

“But part of it’s to do with the style of football and the product on the pitch, and I think that the demands for what that is have changed now, and that’s why he’s unlikely to last long if a new owner comes along.”

It seems as if Robertson does not believe Bruce plays the right style of football or has a good enough record to prove to any potential new owners that he is good enough to remain as Newcastle’s manager.

TIF Thoughts…

Bruce has managed 423 games in the Premier League, of which he has won 119 at an average 1.12 points per game.

In his time as a Premier League manager, he has managed two top-ten finishes and two relegations.

You can see where Robertson is coming from; however, he is Newcastle’s boss, and he currently has them in 14th place – 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

So, on that basis, he has not done a bad job for the Toon this season.
