Many Newcastle United fans have slammed DeAndre Yedlin after his recent performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Magpies fell to a 3-1 loss to Spurs on Wednesday, with Harry Kane grabbing a brace for Jose Mourinho’s men. Heung-min Son had handed Spurs a lead, though the Magpies drew level through Matt Ritchie in the second half. Kane’s brace though, saw Newcastle lose their third game in a row.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

After the game though, many Newcastle fans weren’t pleased with Yedlin. They took to Twitter and made their displeasure for the American’s performance very clear.

Was Yedlin Newcastle's poorest player against Spurs?

The American had started the game at right-back for Steve Bruce’s men, who had lined up in a 5-3-2 shape. Yedlin was taken off in the second half of the tie, as Valentino Lazaro came on for him (as per WhoScored).

Many other Toon fans made their anger for Yedlin known and didn’t have positive words to say for him.

Clearly, many Newcastle fans feel that Yedlin didn’t have a good game and some others feel that the American should be moved on by the club.

Per Whoscored, Yedlin picked up a rating of 6.3/10 in the game. His overall rating for the campaign stands at an underwhelming 6.33 and as a result, he is the sixth-worst performer this season for the Magpies.

Therefore, it is understandable why fans are fuming at Yedlin and it remains to be seen where his future lies. Fans can only hope that he comes up with better performances in what is left of the campaign.
