Will Shearer, who is the son of Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer, recently caught the attention of some Toon fans after he posted a tweet about the ongoing Saudi-backed Newcastle takeover bid

In his latest tweet, Shearer asked: ‘How many weeks has it been now?’ He posted this along with the hashtag ‘#NUFCTakeover,’ which makes it clear that he is sharing some frustration over the length of time that the ongoing Saudi-backed Toon takeover bid has been taking to receive the Premier League’s approval.

Back in April, Sky Sports reported that only the Premier League’s checks stood between Newcastle United and new ownership after the club’s would-be owners paid a deposit to current Toon owner Mike Ashley. However, as per Chronicle Live, the group behind this takeover bid are still waiting for the Premier League to complete their checks.

After Shearer shared his frustration about the length of time that this takeover is taking to receive approval from the Premier League via a tweet, some Newcastle United fans replied to his post to share similar feelings.

As per The Guardian, the Premier League’s takeover-related checks ‘normally take two weeks.’ With that in mind, it may be understandable why some Newcastle supporters replied to this post to declare that the club’s fans have been waiting too long for the Premier League to complete their checks this time around.
