Some Newcastle United fans flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account that shared a link to a post on the Toon’s website that included some images from training that were taken ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with Manchester City on Wednesday evening

Ahead of Wednesday evening’s clash with Manchester City, Newcastle have secured mathematical safety in England’s top flight, following a six-game unbeaten run in the league

So, as the Toon’s official Twitter account shared the link to these images from training to help their fans to ‘prepare’ for Wednesday’s game, the tweet caught the attention of plenty of Toon fans who reacted to the post.

Toon manager Steve Bruce shared that both Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron were doubts for Wednesday’s game in his pre-match press conference ahead of the fixture, however, both players were spotted by some Newcastle fans in these training images and these fans shared their thoughts on the two players’ participation in training following the injury news that recently emerged about them.

Other Newcastle supporters opted to discuss Christian Atsu in response to these training images, with some sharing concern over his participation in training and one Toon fan stating that he “should be nowhere near the first team.”

Should Christian Atsu be at Newcastle United next season?

Considering that Bruce had claimed that both Almiron and Saint-Maximin were “struggling” ahead of Wednesday’s game against Manchester City, it may be understandable why their participation in training was a hot topic of discussion for some Magpies fans.

Additionally, some of these Toon supporters were quite critical of Atsu, which may be understandable considering that he failed to score a single Premier League goal this term ahead of Wednesday’s game with City. However, prior to Wednesday’s game, only Saint-Maximin and Andy Carroll provided more Premier League assists for the Toon than Atsu this term and with that in mind, some of these Newcastle supporters might have been overly-critical of the Ghanaian.
