The 31-year-old striker recently signed a contract extension with Steve Bruce’s outfit which will see him remain at St. James’ Park for the duration of next season (per Newcastle United).

This season, Carroll has delivered some fairly average performances as a 6.67/10 average rating in the Premier League has made him the Toon’s 13th-best performer (per WhoScored).
To earn the rating, the forward has not scored but bagged four assists over 17 league appearances, only four of which were starts.

As can be seen in these responses from Newcastle supporters there was a mix of reactions, but many fans mentioned the fact that the striker has missed a number of games for the Toon this season due to injuries.
