A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from NUFC 360, which includes a link to an article in The Northern Echo about where Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed takeover currently stands with the Premier League.
The piece claims that the ball is back in the court of Staveley and her Saudi group as the PL seeks assurances over who will make the key decisions in the Toon’s new regime and if they can’t answer these questions then the deal could collapse.
The Premier League want to know the dividing line between PIF and the Saudi government and that if they pass the takeover, the de facto owners will not be the Saudi regime.
This is important because if Staveley and her group can show a clear line between the Saudi government and PIF, then the issues over piracy connected to Saudi Arabia should not be too much of a problem.
This has drawn the attention of these Toon fans who are not happy with the process or the Premier League.
Do you think the consortium will provide the answers needed?
Yes, it shouldn't be too hard
No, something will go wrong
It is becoming very obvious the PL want it to fail.

I am 100% convinced the @premierleague would have approved if the consortium were purchasing @ManCity, @ManUtd, @Arsenal, @ChelseaFC, @LFC or @SpursOfficial. Their lack of respect and utter disdain towards @NUFC and the fans is absolutely disgraceful. #NUFC #NUFCTakeover

After 17 weeks the PL still haven’t got clarification who the owner is with PIF and the Saudis government. Surely week one this should have been figured out before going forward, this is absolute madness to spend so much time without sorting out this obvious problem at the start.

They allowed Thaksin Shinawatra who was Prime minister of Thailand to own Manchester city!!!! Remove the Buffoon Richard Masters. @premierleague

The fact this deal was handed to the PL in April and they have only now just responded with what they want from the consortium suggests that any resolution to this could be far away.
Some Toon fans, though, appear not to believe this new update and have expressed their feelings about it.
There is no substance to any of these reports.

Where does this information come from in a CONFIDENTIAL process?
— ???????????? (@sparxx) July 28, 2020
It’s funny how every article says they have a source but always also say that none of the parties involved would comment. Given it’s a confidential process they are guessing.

Seriously, how is this information actually getting out? I don’t believe any of it.

This piece follows on from one in the Daily Telegraph, which claimed the deal had stalled and it seems as if Staveley’s group must now provide some answers or the deal could collapse.
The takeover is certainly not dead, but the consortium must now provide answers that will satisfy the Premier League.
