On the latest episode of the Tifo Football Podcast for The Athletic, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Joe Devine and Alex Stewart have been talking about some of the latest goings-on in the Premier League, including a discussion of the chances of Manchester United signing Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for the England international this summer, although Sky Sports suggested that the Manchester club would only be willing to spend £50 million on the £105.3 million-rated man. However, those on the podcast feel that this may just be a negotiating tactic, in the hope of potentially driving the winger’s price down, perhaps due to the financial impact of the current viral outbreak.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Here’s what Stafford-Bloor had to say about United’s chances of signing Sancho this summer upon suggestions that they had offered £50m to prise Sancho away from Dortmund:

“So, if Jadon Sancho is available, Manchester United will try and buy him most likely, and they will try and buy him for much more than £50 million. It’s a negotiating position.”

TIF Thoughts…

Sancho has been superb for Dortmund in his time with the Bundesliga side, contributing 34 goals and 43 assists in just 99 appearances (per Transfermarkt). If he is available for transfer this summer, then from what Stafford-Bloor says, it sounds as if the Red Devils would be very interested, and considering his form from the most recent season, where he managed 17 goals and 16 assists in 32 top-flight appearances (per WhoScored), it is easy to see why.

It will be interesting to see whether or not United make a move for the 20-year-old this summer, and whether or not he would be able to replicate that superb form in the Premier League should he join.
