Football journalist David Ornstein has shared some information regarding Manchester United’s transfer plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

This comes after Ornstein recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Ornstein & Chapman Podcast to talk about how clubs across English football will be preparing for the upcoming window.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

On the topic of United, Ornstein shared some insight into how they will operate during the window, which was recently announced would be opening towards the end of July and closing in early October.

He said: “They’ve been very careful to explain about how the mentality around transfers needs to shift this summer, because it’s not going to be all that we, or many of us, think or want it to be. But then on the flip-side, there’s that strong interest in Jadon Sancho, and if Manchester United qualify for the Champions League, it seems very clear that they’ll make a strong attempt to close that deal out.

“But Borussia Dortmund are not going to budge on their asking price, at least not much. So that one is going to be really one to watch because we know the right side is United’s priority and that Jadon Sancho is the first choice for that position and there will be other positions that United are thinking about recruiting in as well.”

Would United have to break their transfer fee record to sign Sancho this summer?

Since signing for Dortmund back in 2017 from United’s rivals Manchester City, Sancho has managed to score a total of 34 goals and provide 43 assists in 99 appearances for the club.

TIF Thoughts…

Given how impressive Sancho has been for Dortmund since he arrived in Germany, it’s no surprise that United are looking to bring the 20-year-old back to England this summer and add him to their ranks.

However, considering that the Englishman is currently valued at £105.3 million according to Transfermarkt, it would surely take a huge figure from United to secure Sancho’s signature this summer.
