According to recent reports, Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed he will remain at Manchester City until 2023 following City’s successful appeal against a two-year ban from European football.

The reports in The Telegraph state that the midfielder looks set to fulfil his current contract at the club – which expires in 2023 – before the 29-year-old will assess the ‘options for the final stage of his career’.

This news comes following City’s successful overturning of a two-year ban from Champions League football – imposed by UEFA after they claim to have found City to have deliberately misled European football’s governing body in their investigations into City’s finances, as well as breaking financial fair play rules – with De Bruyne being one of the players who had admitted he would consider his future with the club if their Champions League ban was upheld.

The news that the 29-year-old looks set to see out his contract at Manchester City is undoubtedly a boost for the club, with the £108 million-rated midfielder being the stand out performer in the Premier League so far this season.

Over his 33 appearances in the Premier League this term, De Bruyne has scored 11 goals and provided a remarkable 18 assists, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.88 – ranking him not only as City’s best performer this season, but also the Premier League’s.
