According to recent reports, Manchester City are prepared to make a ‘strong investment’ in Valencia winger and Manchester United and Liverpool target Ferran Torres.

The reports by Cadena Ser (via Sport Witness) state that City view the 20-year-old as a direct replacement for the departing Leroy Sane.

Cadena Ser also reports that Torres is not interested in agreeing on a new deal with Valencia, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2021.

Although the Spanish U21 international is currently valued at £40.5 million, should Valencia wish to receive any kind of fee for the player, they may well be forced to sell him this summer and this could present City with the potential to drive the price down for the winger.

However, the report also claims that Pep Guardiola’s side are not the only club interested in the 20-year-old, with Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Liverpool and Manchester United all said to have ‘made calls’ to Valencia regarding the winger.

And, it is not difficult to see why.

So far this season, Torres has scored four goals and has provided four assists over his 31 La Liga appearances. In the Champions League, the Spaniard has registered a further two goals and two assists over six fixtures in the competition, averaging an impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.47.

TIF Thoughts…

With such impressive returns in both domestic and European competitions so far this season despite his young age, Torres certainly seems as if he is a player with bags of potential.

As long as City can convince the winger that they are the best destination for him, Pep Guardiola could well be welcoming his Sane replacement to the club this summer.
