According to recent reports, Manchester City, as well as Juventus and Barcelona, are planning a summer move for Wolves winger, Adama Traore.

The reports by ESPN claim that should Wolverhampton Wanderers fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, City, Juventus and Barcelona are planning to make a move for the 24-year-old, who signed for Wolves from Middlesbrough for a fee of £18 million back in 2018.

Since this move, Traore has gone from strength to strength with Wolves, scoring seven goals and providing 15 assists over 83 appearances with the club.

And, once again, the winger has impressed for the club in the league, scoring four goals and providing nine assists – the joint third-most assists in the Premier League this year– as well as an average WhoScored match rating of 7.55 – ranking him as the second-best player in the Premier League this term, behind only Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne of those players with at least 18 top-flight appearances.

However, the report by ESPN goes on to state that Wolves would likely require a fee of around £80 million to let the winger go – due to the three-years he has remaining on his contract with the club.

TIF Thoughts…

With Manchester City recently waving goodbye to Leroy Sane, who joined Bayern Munich earlier this month, it is true that Pep Guardiola’s side currently have a vacancy.

And, judging by his individual stats from this season, Traore has shown that he is more than capable of holding his own in the Premier League, despite playing for a side who are not considered to be in the so-called ‘big six’.

As such, the thought of Traore in a side with the talent of City is indeed an exciting thought, even if the £80 million price tag is almost four times the player’s current Transfermart valuation of £22.95 million.
