Simon Stone has been speaking on the latest episode of the Football Daily Podcast about the deal that will see Leroy Sane move to Bayern Munich.
Stone claims that City see this as a good deal and when asked by Rob Green where he thinks City will strengthen the side Stone claimed that the money would probably be used on improving the centre of the defence.
Here is what he had to say about this situation.
“There’s a very real feeling that City will look to strengthen in central defence.
“Firstly they obviously lost Vincent Kompany, their talisman, they never replaced him at the start of this season, and secondly there was an expectation and anticipation almost that Nicolas Otamendi was going to leave the club at the start of this season and he didn’t, he’s still there but does [Pep] Guardiola really trust him?
“John Stones, does Guardiola trust him? He’s injured at the moment, he’s had Fernandinho at centre-half for most of the season.
“I think that is where City will look to strengthen.”
It seems as if the money raised from Sane’s sale could be invested into the defence ahead of next season.
Do you think City need to use the Sane money to invest in the defence?
Yes
No
TIF Thoughts…
City have had to deal without Aymeric Laporte this season who has missed 37 games in all competitions and that has seen Fernandinho fill in as a centre-back for 34 games.
So it seems as if Stone believes the money from Sane will be invested in the defence as City look to win the Premier League title back from Liverpool next season.
