According to recent reports, former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has urged David Alaba not to join City this summer.

Reports in The Telegraph state that Alaba would be available for around £33 million this summer, as the defender only has one year remaining on his current contract with Bayern Munich.

Man City fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Yaya Toure quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who did Yaya Toure sign for City from back in 2010?

Manchester City are said to be very firmly interested in the left-back should they receive word that the 28-year-old would be open to a move to the Premier League.

However, recent Manchester City departee Sane is said to have ‘urged David Alaba to shun Manchester City’s advances’ and instead commit his future to Bayern Munich.

According to Sport Bild (via The Telegraph), Sane stated: “I really hope David stays. I would like to play with him. He is a good guy, a great footballer, and we like each other privately. David has proven that he is not only one of the world’s best left-backs, but also exceptional in the centre.”

TIF Thoughts…

Regardless of Sane’s comments concerning Alaba, a move by City for the player this summer would seem to solve a number of issues for Pep Guardiola.

With it being reported that City have been considering bolstering their defence this summer, Alaba would appear to be the perfect signing, as the 28-year-old is adept playing both at left-back and centre-back.

In addition to this, should the defender really be available for £33 million, it would seem to represent great value for money, as Transfermarkt currently values Alaba at £58.5 million.

As such, despite Sane’s comments – or perhaps we should say, in spite of Sane’s comments – we would suggest that Manchester City should do all they can to sign the Austria international this summer.
